Tap the boxes above or below the clock and you can choose to add widgets to your Lock Screen. Tap the clock and a pop-up menu will allow you to change its font and color. Regardless of which wallpaper you choose, you can customize the Lock Screen layout to make it your own. Finally, Color is for the minimalists out there, allowing you to pick a base color and gradient overlay. You can swipe between these choices, and they animate really nicely as you move from the Lock Screen to the Home Screen. Astonomy offers a space background focusing on the Earth, Moon, or the whole Solar System. Weather shows an animated sky that changes based on your local weather conditions. Emoji lets you create a custom pattern from up to six different emoji characters. It’s a really neat effect that works especially well with Portrait photos, but if you don’t like it, tap the menu button in the lower right and tap Disable Depth Effect. Photos with a clearly-defined subject will have a multilayered effect applied, meaning the person, pet, or object in the foreground will be layered over the clock to add the illusion of depth. Your device will make suggestions for photos it thinks would work well, but you can choose anything you like. The first three options ( People, Photos, Photo Shuffle ) all allow you to choose a wallpaper from the photos in your camera roll. Here you can see all of Apple’s pre-made Lock Screen layouts, or choose one of the buttons along the top to create your own. Pressing that Add New button (or going to Settings > Wallpaper & Lock Screens > Add New Wallpaper) will open up the wallpaper gallery. New wallpaper designs can be created from the Add New section or using the blue + button in the bottom right corner. You can even use the Focus button to link a wallpaper to a specific Focus mode, meaning it will automatically switch when you activate that Focus. You can tap Customize to make adjustments, or long-press again and choose Delete Wallpaper to remove one from the list. The interface will be familiar to anyone with an Apple Watch: simply long-press anywhere on the Lock Screen and swipe left or right to choose a wallpaper. You can create multiple Lock Screen designs and switch through them at any time. The addition of widgets, multilayered photos, customization options, and lots of new wallpapers mean users can really put their own spin on the Lock Screen. Last year, the system just notified you that an app has access to your pasteboard.A redesigned Lock Screen was front and center of Apple’s iOS 16 reveal, and it looks fantastic. Pasteboard asks for permission when you copy something from one app to another.U.S.-based folks on the other hand can now report spam SMS messages with a new “Report Junk” option available under the Unknown Senders category.You have 30 days to restore deleted messages. If you want to recover deleted messages, head to Messages and scroll down to the Recently Deleted section.Users can turn off notifications for Unknown Senders, Promotions and Transactions through Settings > Messages > Customize Notifications. The Transactions category includes Finance, Reminders, Orders, Health, Public Services, Weather, Carrier, Rewards and Others the Promotions category includes Offers, Coupons and Others. You’ll be able to favorite artists on Apple Music and receive notifications for their new releases.There’s now a new contextual menu on a long press of a contact that allows you to directly delete the number without going to the edit menu.It’s like picking multiple files on desktop. Then you can just drag them over to another list. If you want to move multiple contacts from one list to another, just hold one contact and then select others to the bunch. What’s more, it’s easier to export all contacts from a list by long pressing on the list.Users can notice duplicate contacts under the All Contacts list. The duplicate clearance is now available in the Contacts app too.You can do this by going to Photos > Albums and scroll down to the Duplicate section under Utilities. The new update lets you remove duplicate photos quickly.This gives you an in-built tool to hide your sensitive photos without using a third-party app. You’ll have to unlock them using Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. iOS 16 locks Hidden Photos and Deleted Photos folders by default.
